Recommended Method to Discontinue a Pricing Plan

Consider These Things When Archiving a Pricing Plan With Active Users Subscribed to It:

Deleting a pricing plan that has active subscribers has several important consequences:

  • New subscriptions: the plan immediately becomes unavailable to new subscribers.
  • Current subscribers: clients keep access to all content associated with this plan, including courses, tracking goals, and Community, unless you cancel their subscription manually.
  • Recurring charges: monthly recurring payments, whether through PassionPayments or Apple/Google, continue unless you cancel the subscription manually.
  • There's no separate β€œarchive” state in Passion Studio β€” deleting is the only discontinue action, and it's built to preserve existing subscribers automatically.

Recommended Method to Discontinue a Pricing Plan

For a smooth transition, follow these best practices:

Step 1: Create a New Plan to Replace the One You’re Archiving

  1. Go to Offers β†’ Plans.
  2. Create a new pricing plan with appropriate features and pricing.
  3. Decide whether to keep existing clients at their current rate or transition them to new pricing.

Step 2: Communicate With Your Users

  1. Notify users about the upcoming change well in advance.
  2. Explain the benefits of the new plan and any changes they can expect.
  3. Set clear expectations about when the transition will occur.

Step 3: Migrate Users to the New Plan If You Choose To

Option A: manually move clients from one plan to another:

    1. Go to People.
    2. Select clients on the old plan and use the bulk action bar to add them to the new plan. See β€œManage Users in Bulk.”

Option B: automate a migration via Zapier:

    1. Set up a Zap that triggers when clients meet specific criteria.
    2. Configure the Zap to automatically move clients from the old plan to the new one.
    3. Test thoroughly before implementing the automation.

Zapier integrations are a premium feature available with certain Passion plans. Please check our pricing page for more information.

Step 4: Rename the Old Plan

  1. Edit the old plan's name to include β€œArchived” or β€œLegacy” for easy identification.
  2. Under Sell on, uncheck Web and in-app availability so it's no longer available for purchase. See β€œUse Availability Selectors & Paywalls for Your Pricing Plans.”
