Enable Live Streaming in Your YouTube Account
At this time, YouTube is the only live streaming service that integrates with Passion.io.
- Create an account on YouTube if you don't have one yet.
- Verify your YouTube channel.
- Wait up to 24 hours (potentially less) for Live streaming to activate on your account.
As long as your channel has no Live streaming restrictions, you can now Live stream on YouTube through a web browser or streaming encoder. If you want to use a mobile device to Live stream, your channel must have at least 1,000 subscribers.
Go Live on YouTube
- Click on the camera symbol with a plus sign at the top right corner of your YouTube Home Page.
- Click Go Live.
- Check this YouTube help article for more detailed steps.
- Once you start the Live stream, press the share button at the top right corner and copy the Video link.
- Copy the link that starts with https://. The link starting with rtmp:// will not work on the Passion.io video widget.
Broadcast from Passion.io
Now that you have a Live Stream URL, you can broadcast it from your Passion.io app.
- Go to Courses. From your App, Web App, or Passion.io App, go to your Courses.
- Choose any of your Courses.
- Click on the + icon to add more content.
- Choose Lesson.
- Add the details for the lesson, including which section to place it.
- Click Add Content.
- Choose Video widget
- Click on the widget to add a video.
- Paste your YouTube live stream URL in the Video link field.
- Click Add Video.
We recommend creating a Course dedicated to your Live stream so your clients can easily find where to go to see you live!
You can also add your Live stream's date and time and share it with them in the Community.
The recording will not automatically upload to the Passion.io library, so you'll have to manually export it from YouTube and upload it after the Live streaming. If you don't need the video to be available offline, you can leave the live stream link as is, and it will direct the clients to the YouTube recording.
