Upload a Video Directly
Uploading videos directly ensures the best experience for your audience with custom thumbnails, offline viewing, and playback control.
Before uploading, consider the following:
- The video file size depends on your Passion plan. Please check our pricing page for more information.
- Uploaded video file types need to be in a .mov or .mp4 format.
- In native apps, videos display in a player that has a 16:9 aspect ratio, so black bars will display on videos with other aspect ratios.
To upload a video:
- In the desired lesson, click on + Add content > Lesson widgets > Video.
- Tap the widget to add a video file.
- To add a new video, tap on Click to add a video file.
- To reuse a video you've uploaded previously on your app, select a video under Recently uploaded videos.
- Once uploaded, click on the Add video button.
Add a custom thumbnail:
After uploading a video directly to your Passion app, you can add a custom thumbnail.
The thumbnail needs to follow the following format:
- Maximum upload size: 5MB
- File type: .jpeg or .png
To add a thumbnail:
- Tap on the three dots while hovering over the video > click on Edit.
- Tap the trash can icon over the current thumbnail.
- Click on Upload thumbnail and select the thumbnail file from your device.
- Click on Add video.
Add YouTube or Vimeo videos
Add videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo to the video widget by using your video's URL.
Before linking, check your video privacy permissions:
- YouTube: The video must be set to Unlisted (not Private).
- Vimeo: The video must be set to Unlisted or Hide from Vimeo.
To upload a third-party video:
- In the desired lesson, click on + Add content > Lesson widgets > Video.
- Tap the widget to add a video file.
- Under video link, paste the video link.
- Click on Add video.
With YouTube or Vimeo links, offline sync and playback in the native app are disabled.
